Sometimes I wonder about the importance of being...

As I promised, I'm bloggin' again...Here's the result of painstaking work on a 70x100cm Arches watercolor paper. It's been really really time consuming and soon I found myself living in the work, considering that it's all about death and skulls (but not only that), not exactly a daydream! But with hindsight I can say it was worth it all, it's been a big challenge and I'm happy all went as I planned and imagined. Illustrating death was even more challenging, as definitely we're talking about one of the most famous and thusly rapresented theme in the history of mankind. There's been many masters and artists who have given a deeply strong connotation to the representation of death, hardly likely to be avoided and ignored so easily, not to mention the fact that a tarot that it's supposed to picture death has to refer to all death imagery as quickly as possible, a very hard job if you want to reinterpret it forgetting all what it carries. For the time being I can show only few details, keep an eye out for the whole piece!

I've just undertaken a massive work. Is gonna be a 70x100-piece or something around that. Spending loads of hours on the paper (yes, ON the paper), this is gonna be part of a show due to be held from June in Turin and then in Milan in the next months. 22 artists will illustrate 1 tarot card each, fate got me Death card, is not gonna be bad! pics coming in the next posts...

MALADY OF REVERY: pen, watercolor pencils on elephant dung paper...I wrote some months ago on Lost at E Minor blog about the importance of the use of sustainable media and the role of design in it...

I know, it's been a looong, long time since I last posted something, let me say I've been very busy working on some works and developing a slightly different style, not so far from the old pieces, just the natural process of things, everything changes and gets to a new stage, I hope it will be a great one. It's a time of changes and new choices, let's see what's in store...

This drawing dates back to few months ago. I did it for my very longtime friend Dani who opened a Sushi bar a little more than a year ago or so. I hope it could be a good omen for his new business, you know I'm rooting for you, Dani!

Can a mask reveal who you really are? Can scraps of yourself be patched together and talk to the world? With that in mind, I started up this interesting project...as always, is all about the tricky business of concealing and revealing...

a glimpse of a recent drawing...

I wanted to pay omage to what is "behind the curtains", all those things in the backstage that only few know or consider as all eyes are right on what lies before. Sometimes I wish I could be able to know what really is unknown, to see what is invisible, what is the hard work that made big things or people become something or someone. Here's some of the billion scribbles and lines to keep the hand trained and pressure-high-sensitive...I've always wanted to show this "b-side", not less important than what I usually post...

This month I've been slaving away on some works, among which a square-sized drawing for an exhibition on the evergreen car produced by Fiat in the glorious Sixties. In this post a bunch of recent drawings, just my favor before I take some days off in my quiet and inspiring birthplace in South Italy, I'm going to have some time to think...and sleep...
